Splendors of Turkey at the Orpheum Theatre
As part of the 2008 Salute to Turkey, Memphis in May International Festival presents Splendors of Turkey at the Orpheum Theatre during International Week.
Exotic sights, sounds and rhythms fill the Orpheum Theatre with an educational adventure into traditional and contemporary Turkish music. The multi-faceted show features the accomplished Anatolian Sun Quartet skillfully performing traditional Turkish music influenced by Turkey’s diverse society, and the lively Turkish troupe, BaBa Zula. Students will learn about Turkey through a mixture of disciplines of performing arts including belly dancers, whirling dervishes, elaborate costumes, poetry, theater and live animation.

Performances will last approximately 90 minutes.
There is no cost for students or chaperones to attend.
Schools should provide transportation to and from the show.
