Helpful Hints to Choosing a Committee
It Starts With You!
Consider your interests, talents, and areas of expertise. Or maybe you'd like to stretch yourself and try something new. Ask yourself, 'What is my goal and/or reason for volunteering with Memphis in May?'
Focus and Responsibility
Read through our committee descriptions below. These briefly describe the focus and responsibility of each committee.
Time Commitment
Most committees have involvement with all Memphis in May events and therefore are active throughout the month of May. Others focus on only one event. For some, involvement begins earlier in the year. Also note that certain committees require daytime volunteers.
Training
You are required to attend any/all training sessions for your committee(s). Most take place in April on weeknights or Saturday morning. You will be notified usually one month ahead of time.
Making New Friends
Volunteering is a great way to meet people. If you have been involved with a particular committee for some time, consider trying a new committee. By doing so, you will give yourself the opportunity to develop new and lasting friendships.
