Years before their uplifting anthem “Float On” conquered the airwaves and introduced the band to countless new admirers, Modest Mouse was already well-established as one of indie rock’s most consequential bands. In fact, the band was not only instrumental in helping to redefine the post-grunge music scene of their native Pacific Northwest, but in helping to usher in a new golden age of indie rock as well. By combining emo, punk, folk, and rock with lyricism that is capable of being both powerfully uplifting or acidly sardonic, Modest Mouse has continued to create music that gets to the heart of the human condition for nearly 30 years.
