Alongside fellow Atlanta rap stars Gucci Mane, T.I. and Young Jeezy, Waka Flocka Flame was a key figure in ushering in trap music’s decade-long supremacy in hip-hop. Beginning with 2009’s “O Let’s Do It,” the rapper released a breathtaking string of rowdy bangers that would go on to top the charts and take over clubs worldwide. His 2010 album Flockaveli, which featured the era-defining hits “Hard in the Paint” and “No Hands,” is now considered a modern classic and is inarguably one of the most influential rap albums of its time. Although he hasn’t released an official album since 2012’s Triple F Life: Friends, Fans & Family, Waka Flocka has remained an important figure in hip-hop through a steady series of mixtapes and guest appearances.
