Salute to Ghana: Black Star Black Tie Gala
The Board of Directors of Memphis in May International Festival invites you to the 2022 Black Star – Black Tie Gala saluting the Republic of Ghana.
This spectacular event will celebrate the history and culture of the Republic of Ghana with an exclusive menu followed by dancing and entertainment. Also, join us in honoring Ghana is His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, ruler of the Asante Kingdom, and Her Excellency Hajia Alima Mahama, Ambassador of the Republic of Ghana to the United States.
The gala is sponsored by Drexel.
Tickets are on sale for the spectacular event celebrating the country’s history and culture.
The Black Star, Black Tie Gala will take place at the Renasant Convention Center on Friday, May 6, 2022 at 6:30 p.m.

Ghana Dignitaries to Attend Gala
His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, ruler of the Asante Kingdom, is attending the Black Star Black Tie Gala which celebrates his 72nd birthday.
The Asante Kingdom is a constitutionally protected sub-national traditional state in union with Ghana.
The Asantehene’s visit to Memphis will highlight some of Ghana’s culture and traditions. His Majesty will lead a contingent of paramount chiefs representing all regions of the Asante Kingdom, divisional chiefs, Princes, and stool attendants of the Golden Stool.
Also in attendance at the gala will be Her Excellency Hajia Alima Mahama, Ghana’s Ambassador to the U.S.
