California’s Young the Giant is a reflection of their famously diverse home state, featuring four members who are either immigrants or children of immigrants. This melange of international influences helps to give their summery indie rock a distinctive sound that is simultaneously wide-ranging yet accessible. The band released their self-titled debut in 2010 and their first three singles, “My Body”, “Cough Syrup”, and “Apartment”, all charted on the US Alternative Songs chart. Last year, the group released the EP “Act 1: Origins,” which serves as the first part of their ambitious fifth album, American Bollywood. The album is structured after the ancient Sanskrit Hindu text of The Mahabharata and will be released in four different acts. A true cultural melting pot, Young the Giant is one of indie rock’s most adventurous bands.
