For nearly 30 years, Gov’t Mule has reigned as one of the nation’s premiere jam bands, delivering powerful blues rock with impeccable improvisational skills. Founding members Warren Haynes and the late Allen Woody were already well-known quantities when they formed the group in 1995, having spent years in the Allman Brothers Band. Much like the Allmans, Gov’t Mule became known for their scorching live performances and their distinctly Southern style. Over the years, the band has included various high-profile guest members such as Flea, Bootsy Collins, and Phish bassist Mike Gordon, further illustrating their wide-ranging influences. Although they hail from Georgia, the band is clearly learned in Memphis music, having recently covered songs by local legends Ann Peebles, Howlin’ Wolf, and Bobby “Blue” Bland.
