Although California isn’t typically viewed as a source for authentic blues, Compton’s Keb’ Mo’ is living proof that the genre is defined more by attitude than geography. With five Grammys, 14 Blues Foundation Awards, and innumerable other accolades under his belt, Keb’ Mo’ is inarguably one of roots music’s most accomplished and respected artists working today. In addition to his 50 year career as an influential genre-bending bluesman, Keb’ has also established himself as a captivating onscreen presence, a passionate philanthropist, and an outspoken activist. “I may be turning 70,” he says, “but I’m still breathing, and I’m still hungry.
