Lucinda Williams

Had folk artist Lucinda Williams’ career been defined solely by her 1998 masterpiece Car Wheels on a Gravel Road, she would likely still be remembered as one of the most distinctive and gifted songwriters of her generation.Thankfully, the prolific artist has given us much more over her five-decade career, releasing an astounding five albums since the beginning of 2021 alone. Beloved by her fans and peers alike for her deep independent streak, Williams has fought valiantly over the duration of her career to maintain creative control over her art. Much like fellow iconic songwriters Bob Dylan and John Prine, Williams creates music that is simultaneously literary and accessible, brilliantly illuminating  the small details of life. In 2021, Williams kicked off a new series called “Lu’s Jukebox” that found her recording live versions of tribute sets with the proceeds going to benefit independent music venues.
